A Comic Conversation

Those of you who follow my randomness might recall me mentioning a book or graphic novel sometime soon, possibly (hopefully) this year, if at all possible. Since the last time I brought it up, I’ve received a surprising amount of people asking me if it was really going to happen, and when? The popular demand seems to be drawing me back to the idea (get it? drawing? hah!).

Obviously, I’ve never tackled a project quite like this before, so I want to approach this with as much preparedness that I can muster. I’m confident in my writing abilities, I think my art skills are up to snuff, and I’ve got a hell of a story to tell. I figured that if it got to the point where there was some interest in it, then I would look into making it happen. However, I don’t want to do this alone, and with the blinders that everything will go totally smooth.

This means that I’ll be maintaining a fairly transparent process as I move forward in this new endeavor. My focus will be on making it absolutely enjoyable, rather than worrying about how successful it ends up becoming. Because just as I’ve learned on the web: If money and power are more important to you than being proud of your craft, then you’re obviously doing it wrong.

Consider this post just an introductory statement of the work I intend on doing, even though the work itself probably won’t start immediately (Project 52 still has some priority in the coming weeks). I am, however, starting to plan this out and take it more seriously.

Feel free to offer your advice or thoughts in the comments below. Let me know what sort of comics (if any) you’re currently interested in (just out of curiosity, to see if you might like what I’ve got planned).
