Project 52
Barely after the dust has even settled from launching my new site, I faced the difficult challenge of dealing with a good content strategy. Then something obvious struck me... why not make a reoccurring event out of it that I am required to stick to?
Logic suggests that, if we aren't required to write (or draw, in my case), then we may find ourselves not doing it as often in favor of the tasks that have higher priority. At least, that's what happens in my life. I tend to place a much lower priority level on the things that have an open-ended schedule. As deadlines loom closer, I place a higher level of attention on the matter, the pressure helps increase the quality of my work, and everybody's happy in the end.
Make it a Project
Here's the guideline, and I think it's an easy one:
Starting the week of Monday the 18th of March (to let everyone recover from SXSW), write a minimum of one(1) article per week for 52 weeks. Guaranteeing a regular flow of content until at least March of 2008.
Psychologists have suggested that it takes doing something approximately 21 times in a regular schedule before it becomes a task of habit, or something that becomes easier to do automatically. At least that applies to doing chores, brushing teeth, etc... so why not content updates to our sites? We are after all, creatures of habit, so it stands to reason that we can challenge the habit ritual into other areas of our lives.
Join me in the project!
Here's the deal... some of you are very bad at writing content on a regular basis. You know who you are. The concept it simple. If you think you need help getting motivated, like I do, then simply put add a link on your site, to publicly show your support and commitment (it's honor-based, so we're not going to chase you down):

</a>
104
If you really think you're up to the challenge, and want to keep up with me, double that number from 52 to 104. That's twice a week for a year. My personal goal is to not only write one article a week, but add a drawing or sketch to the artblog during that week as well.
What will you do?
